Description: Calcium Carbonate is white, odorless powder or colorless crystals. Practically insoluble in water.
Fine calcium carbonate is a white, odorless powder or colorless crystals. Practically insoluble in water. Occurs extensive in rocks world-wide. It is a common substance found in rocks as the minerals Limestone (CAS No.1317-65-3), such as Calcite (CAS No.13397-26-7); Marble (CAS No.1317-65-3); Aragonite (CAS No.14791-73-2).etc. And it is the main component of pearls and the shells of marine organisms, snails, and eggs.etc.

Ground calcium carbonate (GCC) (CAS: 1317-65-3) results directly from the mining of limestone. It is made of natural carbonate minerals such as calcite, marble, limestone and so on after mechanical grinding mill. The extraction process keeps the carbonate very close to its original state of purity and delivers a finely ground product either in dry or slurry form.

Ground calcium carbonate (GCC)

Ground calcium carbonate (GCC) is a common inorganic filler powder, has high chemical purity, the inertia big, not easy to chemical reaction, good thermal stability, does not decompose under 400 ℃, high whiteness, low oil absorption rate, low refractive index, soft, dry and without water of crystallization, low hardness abrasion value of small, non-toxic, tasteless, odourless, good dispersion, etc.

According to the need for different particle size requirements of :
Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC) , also named as Heavy Calcium Carbonate, (China Standard: HG/T 3249-2001, Heavy Calcium Carbonate and Actived Heavy Calcium Carbonate for industrial use.)
(China Standard: HG/T 3249-2013 Heavy Calcium Carbonate for industrial use. )
Standard HG/T 3249-2013 is seperated as:
i) HG/T3249.1-2013 For papermaking industrial use;
ii) HG/T3249.2-2013 for paint and coating industrial use;
iii) HG/T3249.3-2013 for plastic industrial use;
iv) HG/T3249.4-2013 for rubber industrial use.
According to high fineness of particle size, we call as Ultrafine Ground Calcium Carbonate, or, Nano-calcium carbonate (NGCC); (China Standard: GB/T 19590-2004)

Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC)

Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) (CAS: 471-34-1) is produced industrially by the decomposition of limestone to calcium oxide followed by subsequent recarbonization or as a by-product of the Solvay process (which is used to make sodium carbonate).

As a result of Ground Calcium Carbonate sedimentation volume is smaller than the Precipitated calcium carbonate sedimentation volume, so we also called Ground Calcium Carbonate (Heavy Calcium Carbonate) and call Precipitated calcium carbonate as Light calcium carbonate .
Precipitated calcium carbonate is purer than ground calcium carbonate and has different (and tailorable) handling properties.
China Standard: HGT 2776-2010, Fine Precipitated Calcium Carbonatee and Fine Activated Precipitated Calcium Carbonate for industrial Use.

Activated Calcium Carbonate (ACC)

Activated Calcium Carbonate (ACC) is Surface Modification Calcium Carbonate, also called as Modified calcium carbonate; calcium carbonate,activeated.
Activated Ground Calcium Carbonate (AGCC) is Calcium Carbonate using such as sodium stearate(SDS) as a modification agent incorporated with the simultaneous wet ultra-fine grinding to intensify the modification process to effect Calcium Carbonate chemicals properties. Activated Calcium Carbonate can improve the quality of modified product, simplify the production technique and lower the production cost.
Activated Calcium Carbonate (ACC) include Activated Ground Calcium Carbonate (AGCC) and Activated Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (APCC).

Biological Calcium Carbonate (BCC)

Eggshells, snail shells and most seashells are predominantly calcium carbonate and can be used as industrial sources of that chemical. Oyster shells have enjoyed recent recognition as a source of dietary calcium, but are also a practical industrial source.
We always call Calcium Carbonate origin from Oyster and Pearl as Biological Calcium Carbonate (BCC).

Applications:

For industrial field:
Ultrafine Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC) is not only a high added-value product, but also a high quality and environment friendly filler. It is widely used for its high quality and low price in many industries, like plastics, paint and papermakmg, etc.
GCC or PCC is used as a filler in paper because they are cheaper than wood fiber.
GCC are the most important types of fillers currently used in paper-making industry. PCC is also used for paper filling and paper coatings is precipitated and prepared in a variety of shapes and sizes having characteristic narrow particle size distributions and equivalent spherical diameters of 0.4 to 3
It is also a popular filler in plastics. It is used to manufacture unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (uPVC) drain pipe, uPVC window profile, PVC cables, ABS, and for other plastic industries as ingredients.
For Health or Medical , Calcium carbonate is added to a wide range of trade and do it yourself adhesives, Ceramic tile adhesives, sealants, and decorating fillers.

For food additives:
As a food additive it is designated E170;INS number 170. Used as an acidity regulator, anticaking agent, stabiliser or colour it is approved for usage in the EU,USA and Australia and New Zealand.
It is used in some soy milk and almond milk products as a source of dietary calcium; one study suggests that calcium carbonate might be as bioavailable as the calcium in cow's milk. Calcium carbonate is also used as a firming agent in many canned or bottled vegetable products.
In food industry, It is also used as a raw material in the refining of sugar from sugar beet.

For agriculture:
Agricultural lime, powdered chalk or limestone, is used as a cheap method for neutralising acidic soil, making it suitable for planting.

For Health or Medical:
Calcium carbonate is widely used medicinally as an inexpensive dietary calcium supplement or gastric antacid.

For Building & Construction:
Calcium Carbonate is as the building material, the ingredient of cement, brick, burning ceramic tile,etc. Calcium carbonate (in limestone form) is no longer used for building purposes on its own, but only as a raw/primary substance for building materials.

For oilfield industry:
Calcium carbonate is added to drilling fluids as a formation-bridging and filtercake-sealing agent; it is also a weighting material which increases the density of drilling fluids to control the downhole pressure.

For steel industry:
Calcium carbonate is used in the purification of iron from iron ore in a blast furnace.

For daily necessities:
Calcium carbonate has traditionally been a major component of blackboard chalk.
Calcium carbonate is added to swimming pools, as a pH corrector for maintaining alkalinity and offsetting the acidic properties of the disinfectant agent.
