Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC) and Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) are commonly used in many types of paper, both as fillers within the paper structure and as a coating on the surface. A range of products are offered throughout the world, differing in particle size, particle size distribution, and brightness to suit all applications.
As fillers, carbonates improve the optical and printing properties of paper while reducing cost by replacement of more expensive fibers.
As coatings, carbonates further improve the optical and surface properties and, through careful selection of pigment properties, provide the correct coating structure for interaction with ink during printing.
